Last weekend, Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY was the epicenter of turbocharged nostalgia as the Buick Grand National community gathered to celebrate the car’s 40th anniversary. HP Race Brands was proud to be right in the middle of the action—celebrating this milestone the best way we know how: with good people, fast cars, and serious performance.
Harry Hruska, founder and CEO of HP Race Brands, was on-site all weekend reconnecting with old friends and customers who helped shape the Buick turbo movement over the past four decades. Familiar names like Brian Cotton, Steve Pitts, Andy Stern, Dwayne Cole, Bill Brooks, Steve Kessler, Jim Luis, Bryan Lynch, and Steve Beddard stopped by to share stories, swap tech talk, and reflect on how far the platform has come.
“It was a great event, especially based on the feedback we got from customers,” Harry said. “Honestly, it was one of the most encouraging weekends we've had. Everyone who bought a turbo was thrilled with the results. No complaints—just happy customers seeing exactly what we promised: faster spool and more power. The performance gains were real and confirmed across the board.”
HP Race Brands was proud to serve as the title sponsor for the Turbo Street Outlaw (TSO), Turbo Pro Bracket (TPB), and Turbo Alcohol Injection (TAI) classes this year—supporting the racers who continue to push the limits of Buick performance. Every single class winner walked away with a 50% off HPT Turbo certificate and a free case of HPL Superior Lubricants—our way of giving back to the community that’s kept the Buick Grand National alive for 40 years.
In addition to giving out exclusive HPT Buick Turbo shirts, hats, and stickers, Harry and the HP Race Brands team stayed busy all weekend answering questions, talking builds, and hearing success stories from recent HPT customers. Nearly everyone who had upgraded to an HPT Buick turbo reported quicker spool, more responsive power, and zero regrets.
One highlight of the weekend came when Kyle Dvorak got behind the wheel of Paul Castle’s Grand National. Tuned and tested by Nick Larson from Streetcar Shenanigans Performance. It was Kyle’s first time piloting the car, and though they exited in the second round, they clocked the best 60’ time of the weekend. “It’s easily the most understated car I’ve ever seen,” Kyle said. “Full interior, power windows, and transbrake and bump buttons hidden in the center console—slicker than shit. It just moves.”
With packed stands, killer passes, and happy racers across the board, the 2025 GS Nationals proved once again that the Buick Grand National community is as strong and passionate as ever. HP Race Brands is honored to be part of it—and we’re just getting started.
